Four wing silhouettes, one editable Blender Geometry Nodes system. This 3D Tudor Demon Wing Generator study explores how the reach of a membrane, the spacing of its supports and the direction of its tips change a creature’s presence.
Broad Six Panel creates a wide red outline around the character. Compact draws the scalloped membranes closer to the body. Swept Bone exposes the branching supports, while Bronze Bat pairs bat-like proportions with a bronze surface treatment. Compare the designs from the same camera: the space around the head and shoulders matters as much as the span itself.
The generator keeps structure and membranes connected while you adjust the form. Shape controls cover span, height, finger proportions, spread and tip sweep. Membrane tension, thickness, wrinkles and scalloping refine the surface after the outline is established; bones, ridges, claws and wrist details develop the supporting anatomy. Independent wing settings allow different arrangements on either side of the character.
Movement is part of the design process. Raise, sweep, elbow, wrist, twist and fold controls establish a pose, while procedural flap speed, strength, timing and wave controls explore its movement. The local demonstrations show the original shape and material workflows. The demon body in the renders is a static preview model; the editable geometry and motion examples focus on the wings.
This is a native Blender generator with 164 exposed controls and prepared examples, inspected in Blender 5.2.2 with Cycles scenes. Main PBR texture sets are 2K and the project contains packed images. Colour and UV controls support the different membrane and bone treatments shown here.
The package also includes four FBX wing examples and an Unreal Engine 5.8.3 project with baked movement and three LODs per wing. Each Unreal variant uses 24 sampled morph targets, not 24 separate animation clips. These exports use a stationary root and do not retain Blender Geometry Nodes; they are not a complete character flight controller or a retargetable anatomical rig.
For character and creature artists, the useful starting point is a comparison: create a broad arrangement and a compact one, keep the lighting and framing fixed, then check which outline gives the character the clearest read. Refine the membrane and motion around that choice.
