Roof Tiles Generator — exploring repeated forms in Blender

A roof pattern changes the character of a building before the viewer notices an individual tile. These examples explore that pattern across pitched timber buildings and a round tower, using the 3D Tudor Roof Tiles Geometry Nodes setup.

The two workflows separate flat/pitched placement from dome/spire shaping. On the pitched roofs, row overlap, stagger, seating and overhang control the rhythm and the silhouette. On the tower, the tile layout narrows towards a separate top cap. Dome Crown Fit provides an additional adjustment for curved dome crowns.

The tile itself remains a design choice. Both generators accept a single tile object or a collection of meshes, so the workflow can extend to custom tiles and other architectural styles. Collection sources need consistent local origins, orientation and approximate size; the supplied Wood, Stone and Ceramic tiles provide references.

The Setups file contains seven roof examples, twelve clean source tiles and an eleven-object Ceramic Damage Mix. A separate Examples file holds the three building compositions shown here. Those buildings are example meshes; the procedural tools arrange the roof tiles.

Surface controls develop the repeated pattern further through tint, contrast, per-tile colour variation, roughness, normals, edge wear, AO colour, moss and UV adjustments. These controls use the compatible supplied shaders, with edge wear intended for Cycles.

The local demonstrations show the flat/pitched, dome/spire and material controls in use. The files were inspected in Blender 5.1.2 with Cycles. Images are packed and external library helpers localized in the customer copies.
